Romania, included on CNN ‘where-to-go’ list for 2016

Where to go in 2016? CNN made a top 16 most suitable destinations for the upcoming year, including Romania among them.

Romania ranks last on the CNN list, the tourism experts describing our country as ‘engulfed in the soaring Carpathian mountain range, filled with green groves and ski and hiking trails for adventure-heads.’

The CNN travel writer says that ‘Romania catches the Danube Delta at its southern tip, where wetlands prove fertile ground,’ while recommeding tourists to head there for hiking, birding and fishing.

Also recommended is Cluj-Napoca city, ‘a hotly-tipped future art scene’ where one can go gallery hopping.

However, Transylvania couldn’t lack topping the hot destinations list, the travel editor arguing ‘the nation is best known for bloodsucking myths of Dracula, werewolves and ghosts.’

‘Transylvania’s vast and varied landscapes filled with skyline-piercing castles and churches don’t disappoint. The most famous, Bran Castle, is linked to Bram Stoker’s fictitious count,’ the CNN editor ends its description. He suggests potential tourists to visit Romania in April-May or in August-October.

Mongolia’s primal lifestyle tops the CNN destinations list, Papua New Guinea’s ‘pristine reefs, smoldering volcanoes and steaming tracts of jungle’ come second, while the Arctic’s extreme and isolated lands rank third, with Iceland, Greenland and Norwegian Svalbard offering ‘plenty sensory stimulants, starting with the aurora borealis.’
