Romania tops 2015 most attractive holiday destinations

Romania ranks 9 in Top 10 of the most attractive holiday destinations for 2015, in terms of prices and tourist offer, according to a chart compiled by the editors of Lonely Planet travel guide.

“The Eastern European countries are frequently rated among the most attractive destinations in terms of prices and tourist offer, yet, in Romania’s case, its presence in this ranking is perfectly justified,” said the editors of Lonely Planet.

“At the moment, vigorously connected with the rest of Europe via the low-cost airlines, Romanian accommodation units are comparable, in all categories of rates, with all the other popular destinations in the region. Bucharest is a clear example where the hotels receive, in almost all cases, tourists coming for business and the holiday season is, unexpectedly, a weak one. Apart from this city, in Romania one can find accommodation with <<friendly>> rates for family budgets, in medieval villages, in spectacular castles and at the unique Danube Delta, which can be best explored using cheap and slow ferries.”

“Private vans, known as <<maxitaxi>>, alongside buses and minibuses, are the cheapest way to travel on various routes,” says the same publication.

The first place in this chart is Tunisia. Second place went to South Africa, and Shanghai ranked third. The Top 10 of the most attractive holiday destinations for 2015 is completed by Samoa, Bali, Uruguay, Portugal, Taiwan, Romania and Burkina Faso.

Launched in 1972, Lonely Planet is the largest travel guide in the world. Lonely Planet publishes over 500 titles travel related, in several languages, and produces TV programs in collaboration with other companies.
