Romanian young lady among finalists of 2015 National Geographic Traveller Photography competition

National Geographic Traveller in UK has announced the finalists of its Photography Competition 2015. National Geographic Traveller launched its annual photo competition in September 2014 and UK photographers were invited to submit their entries in one of six categories: Action, Animal, People, River, Rural and Urban, huffingtonpost.com informs.

Among the finalist there is also Romanian Alecsandra Raluca Dragoi whose photo depicting New Year’s traditions in Comanesti (Bacau county, Romania) won the People section.

“We’ve been incredibly impressed with the response to our annual Photography Competition, with a phenomenally high standard of creativity and photographic quality,” Pat Riddell, editor at National Geographic Traveller said.

Alecsandra RalucaDragoi was born in Romania, but she is currently living in London.

“I have always had the curiosity to discover new places and to meet people from all around the world. Therefore, England was the best choice, as I have the opportunity to meet interesting people from different cultural and ethnic backgrounds (…)Since I first discovered the camera, I knew that I found my niche. Photography has always been a passion of mine, and journalism in particular has interested me for some time. Discovering new stories and capturing candid moments, are very appealing to me. For me, photography has been a fantastic way to grow up faster and get to know myself,” she writes on her website.

The winner will be announced at the Telegraph Outdoor Adventure&Travel Show at London’s Excel on 14th February.
