It was snowing in Baile Harghita resort on Monday night, the snowpack reaching to 2-3 centimeters. The new-fallen snow gives local landlords and tourists hope that winter season is close.
Baile Harghita, near Miercurea Ciuc town (center Romania), is a mountain spa resort, mostly visited for its ski slopes, but also for its mineral waters, its chokedamps and kaolin mines. Most of the ski slopes are nightly lighting system and cable railway equipped.
Weather is unpredictable here, the last snowfall this year being registered in May. The resort lies on 1,350 meters altitude, having an annual average of 150 snowy days and an average 60 centimeters snowpack.
