After the match, Simona Halep said: “It was a very good match. It wasn’t easy, I came here from an indoor tournament. I remained focused I came from behind in the second set.”

As Karolina Pliskova has withdrawn from the tournament, Hapel needed only one win to climb on the second WTA position. She says is not interested in the rankings right now.

“The rankings are not important for the time being. I play to win every match. If I go on in a good shape, I will fight to regain the 1st WTA position,” Halep added.
