Two of the pro-European parties in Republic of Moldova – Liberal-Democrats (PLDM) and Democrats (PD) – have reached an agreement to set up a minority coalition without the Liberals, while asking for the Communists’ and Socialists’ support to appoint the parliament speaker and to invest the government, jurnal.md and unimedia inform. PDLM and PD have 23 MPs and 19 MPs respectively.
‘PDLM and PD have agreed to assume governance. (…) We call on all parliamentary factions to vote for appointing the parliament speaker and proceed to invest the government,’ PLDM leader Vlad Filat said on Friday. The two-party agreement is to be signed as soon as possible.
Liberal leader Mihai Ghimpu said on Friday, during a press conference, that the reason for not joining the agreement is clear: the two parties categorically reject a European prosecutor for R. of Moldova.
