Happy birthday, Berlin!
Bucharest is not the only Capital to celebrate its birthday this year. Berlin is 777 years old on October 28, being exactly 222 years older than Bucharest. Germany’s capital city was first mentioned in records on this day in 1237. The German capital today is considered modern and excitingly unique yet simultaneously historically intriguing.
Display on Polish Jews in Warsaw
The permanent exhibition of the Museum of the History of Polish Jews kicked off on October 28 in Warsaw. The display commemorates centuries of joint Polish-Jewish history. The POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews is the first and only museum dedicated to restoring the memory of the civilization created by Polish Jews in the course of a millennium.
Israel night run
The Tel Aviv Night run launched with a record number of 25,000 runners October 28. The event is held by the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality as part of the strategy to promote healthy lifestyle in the city. The experience of the night run will be accompanied by lights and DJs playing music along the way, while the event will end after the 10km run at a huge happening at the finish line.
Long live the chocolate!
The 20th edition of the Chocolate Salon kicks off on October 29 in Paris. Frenchmen are famous chocolate-goers, each person eating 6.6 kilos of the delicious dessert per year. Yet, Swiss are the greatest chocolate consumers, as they eat 12 kilos a year, meaning one inhabitant is eating one kilo of chocolate annually, according to data issued by the Chocolate Union.
