The Ombudsman (photo – Victor Ciorbea) has asked, on Wednesday, for explanations from the Traffic Police Brigade in regard to the situation of the 8-year old child held during the hearings of his father, the one driving a car registered in Sweden with anti-PSD plates.
“The Ombudsman requests the Traffic Police Brigade for explanations, regarding the situation of the minor child during the hearings of his father, as the latter used offensive anti-PSD plates on his car. The Ombudsman’s approach aims the possible violation of article 49 of the Romanian Constitution regarding the protection of children and youngsters,” a release from the institution informs.
At the same time, given the provisions of Law no. 272/2004 on the Protection of the Rights of the Child, according to which the respect and promotion of the best interests of the child is a fundamental and unequivocal principle, the Ombudsman has asked the Traffic Police Brigade to communicate to what extent the institution, in similar situations, can provide psychological assistance, food and water, but also a good environment for minors, while the tutors are on the premises.
The Ombudsman was notified and also learned from the media about the fact that on July 30, 2018, the driver of a motor vehicle with offensive registration plates was detained and led to the offices of the Traffic Police Brigade, being accompanied by his 8-year-old son.
Thus, the minor was forced to spend several hours at the headquarters of the Traffic Police Brigade and even attended his father’s hearing.
A prosecutor with the District 3 Court Prosecutor’s Office closed, last Tuesday, the file on “driving on public roads of a vehicle registered in another state – which does not have the right to go on traffic in Romania,” concerning the car registered in Sweden with anti-PSD plates.
Răzvan Ștefănescu, the driver from Sweden with anti-PSD plates, said, while at the Traffic Police offices, that he will file a criminal complaint because his son had to attend the hearings, which lasted several hours.
Răzvan Ştefănescu, the owner of the car registered in Sweden with personalized plates M…PSD (blow… to PSD), had his driving license suspended and the license plates confiscated by the Romanian Police.
