Brukenthal, first Romanian museum to be visited by mobile app

Brukenthal National Museum in Sibiu is the first one in Romania that will be visited with the aid of an intelligent mobile application. “i-locate”, named by cultural management experts as “the art GPS”, will be available as of September.

“Brukenthal Museum in Sibiu will be the first museum in Romania that will enable the visitors’ guidance by a special application for the intelligent mobile phones. The app is called ‘i-locate’ and is expected to be available starting September 2015, free of charge, for the entire period of the project. The application is funded by a EUR 4.7m financing granted by the European Commission,” reads a press release issued by the museum.

How does the app function? Once downloaded on the mobiles, the app is helping tourists to reach the museum, as it will tell them exactly how to get to the museum, what is the precise distance, while also offering a cultural guide.

The app can be downloaded from www.i-locate.eu, free of charge, as of September 1, 2015 until December 2016.

The art GPS will be available in Romanian and English languages.
