The fourth edition of the Bucharest International Dance Film Festival will be hosted by six venues in the Capital during September 6-9. The theme of this year’s edition is „[re]tracing” – the traces that time has left in the people’s and communities’ lives.
„The fourth edition of the festival comes at a time when we are forced to fight for normality and when we are re-thinking the coordinates of the past in order to understand the present. The rendez-vous of the film and dance is bringing to BIDFF stories about endurance, perseverance and courage,” said Simona Deaconescu, the festival’s art director.
This year, besides the two competition programmes (international short ups and the national competition), BIDFF brings two international experts to Bucharest, who will coordinate the lab developing dance movies- „Stories in Movement”.
Within the laboratory, Guy Cools, one of the most renowned international playwrights will lecture a drama class.
Helena Jonsdottir, one of the most important choreographers from Scandinavia, innovator of the dance film, will coordinate the creation workshop.
The lab is dedicated to the creators in Southeastern Europe and will take place during September 3-9, at Qreator and LINOTIP – the Independent Dancing Centre and will conclude with a pitching session. The best presentation will win a EUR 700 prize, granted by the Romanian Cultural Institute.
Bucharest International Dance Film Festival is a project developed by Tangaj Dance Associaiton, with the support of the National Cinema Centre, the Romanian Cultural Institute, the Honorary Consulate of Iceland in Bucharest, British Council and Balassi Institute.
