The National Company of Motorways and National Roads (CNADNR) points out that Bucharest-Ploiesti is the only three-lane highway in Romania and its value per kilometer reaches EUR 8.653 million, a press release informs.
“The construction of the first 19.5 kilometers of this highway began in 2007 when the contract was signed with Impresa Pizzarotti C SpA – Tirrena Scavi SpA.
By 2015, when the contract with the above joint-venture ended, there were built 16.175 km. According to the road company, at a highway length of 16.175 km and with 3 traffic lanes in urban areas (km 3 + 325 – km 7 + 000), namely 3 lanes and emergency lane in the extra urban area (km 7 + 000 – km 19 + 500), the average per kilometer of motorway on this section is RON 34,535,346.61 (no VAT and without updates), which is EUR 8,366,120.78 at a rate of 1 Euro = RON 4,128 (2007-2014 annual average),” CNADNR explains.
But, this year, the contract with the Italian companies stopped due to the legal impossibility of its completion because some changes have occurred in implementing the project, requested by the various authorities (Bucharest City Hall, Voluntari City Hall, Road Police). “These would lead to a substantial modification of the contract value,” CNADNR also notes.
These remarks come after the media has speculated an amount of EUR 17 million for one kilometer of Bucharest-Ploiesti highway.
