2016 long-expected mall, ParkLake will create 2,000 new jobs

ParkLake, a Sonae Sierra and Caelum Development joint venture project, located in District 3 of Bucharest, is one step closer to the opening scheduled in 2016.

The EUR 180 million investment will generate around 2,000 jobs after inauguration, the real estate developers announced on Wednesday in a press conference. According to them, 80 percent of the shopping centre area is already leased.

The project is announced to be a grandiose one.

“Please, you expect the unexpected. You will see things that you have never seen before,” Ingo Nissen, Managing Director Sonae Sierra said for The Romania Journal.

The real estate developer has disclosed that the mall will be divided in 4 areas, thematically landscaped and inspired by the four seasons.

ParkLake will host several important brands like Zara, Bershka, Massimo Dutti, Stradivarius, Pull&Bear, Zara Home and Oysho, all of them belonging to the Spanish Inditex Group, as well as H&M, Koton, Maxitoys and Maxbet. These brands, among others, will join Carrefour Hypermarket in a comprehensive commercial and leisure offer covering 70,000 sq m gross leasable area (GLA), with over 200 shops, including 23 restaurants, a cinema multiplex, a health club and 2,600 spaces of underground car parking.

The shopping center will serve over 1.5 million inhabitants in the region.

I started my way in life with the intention to pursue a teaching career. But, after graduating from the Faculty of Letters – the University of Bucharest in 2004, my first job as a reporter at one of the leading newspapers in Romania changed my perspective. I have specialized in communication and communication campaigns, following the Master's courses at the Faculty of Journalism and Communication Studies (FJSC), attending a BBC Communications scholarship.
I’ve represented several important publications in Romania as business journalist, being accredited in the finance and banking field. In 2015, I had the opportunity to interview the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Mission Chief for Romania, Andrea Schaechter. As business journalist, I also had the opportunity to interview ministers for Economics and Commercial
Affairs offices within different embassies in Romania or officials of large companies investing on the domestic market.
After almost 15 years of journalism, I still want to explore new ways, to inform and stay updated. That’s why The Romania Journal project fits me so well.
Today I describe myself as a passionate about the history of world culture, having a PhD in Hebrew Culture and Civilization, after a scholarship at the University of Haifa International School, as a language addict, an environmental activist, pet lover and traveler.
