Romanian Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF) is in advanced discussions with Ministry of Public Finances regarding the listing of some companies on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB), which could contribute to liquidity and volume of transactions increasing on the stock exchange.
According to Misu Negritoiu, ASF’s head, companies in question are Hidroelectrica, Telekom, Enel, and Distrigaz.
„The State has the option, in most of these companies to sell its part, totally or in partially, the holdings of shares on the capital market also. The third group of companies that could help improve market liquidity are the listed companies, state shareholdings, minority or majority, and where the state could raise the issue, starting with Petrom, as well as Romgaz and others,” Negritoiu stated in a press conference on Tuesday, quoted by Agerpres.
ASF President pointed out also that these companies could bring significant income to the state treasury, of over EUR 1 billion.
„If we begin this fall with one, two or three of these companies over the next 24 months, probably, the volume of transactions will substantially increase. That is why we look to achieve emerging market status, we look at a period of 2-3 years. For us, it is a unique opportunity to recover the potential of strategic national companies,” ASF official said.
