Romanian telecom operator Digital Cable Systems (DCS), operating under AKTA brand, has signed a MVNO – Mobile Virtual Network Operator – contract with Telekom Romania Mobile Communications and will launch mobile services, capital.ro informs.

Thus, AKTA enters the domestic mobile phone market, as of August 15, offering also analogue and digital television services, fixed telephony and internet. Its mobile phone services will be available only via postpaid subscriptions and will be offered to consumers who live in rural and small urban areas.

Postpaid packages will be available starting from EUR 2 per month. The new services will complete its existing portfolio which includes TV, internet and fixed telephony.

Founded in 2005, following the merger of several cable companies, currently part of the PineBridge Investments group, Digital Cable Syistems Group is one of the leading telecommunication services providers on the local market. The DCS portfolio includes AKTA – addressed exclusively to individual consumers, and Dial Telecom – one of the most important service providers of this type on the business segment.

A mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) is a company that provides mobile phone services but does not have its own licensed frequency allocation of radio spectrum, nor does it necessarily have all of the infrastructure required to provide mobile telephone service.
