Almost 89,000 used cars registered on domestic market at end-April 2016

88,647 used cars have been registered in Romania during January – April 2016, up by 20 percent year-on-year, the Directorate for Driving Licenses and Vehicle Registration (DRPCIV) data show on Wednesday.

Of the 23,984 second-hand cars registered in April, 6,729 were Volkswagen, up by 26.37 percent as compared to April 2015. Romanians’ preferences continue with Opel (3,946; +17.16 percent), Ford (2,768; +24.13 percent), BMW (1,880; +34.86 percent), Audi (1,845; +43.13 percent), Skoda (1,256; +36.52 percent), Renault (1,012; +21.78 percent), Mercedes (953; +35.37 percent), etc.

Out of 5.15 million registered cars, 302,054 were 0-2 years old in 2015, up by 52.7 percent y-o-y; some 2.56 million (down 12.31 percent) were older than 12 years, 1.89 million were 6-10 years old, 1.76 million 11-15, and 1.2 million older than 20 years.

The national car park totaled at end-2015 about 6.6 million vehicles, up by 5.27 percent as compared to end-2014, DRPCIV data also show.

3.484 million Romanians chose Diesel engines and 2.760 million gasoline ones.
