US giant Amazon, the largest online retailer in the world, will recruit at least 1,300 employees for its upcoming new headquarters in Bucharest within the Globalworth Campus project from Pipera, developed by the Globalworth investment fund led by Ioannis Papalekas, zf.ro reported on Tuesday.

Amazon has signed with Globalworth for 13,500 square meters of office area in the third largest transaction of the year, after the one of 20,000 sqm signed by Renault Technologie Roumanie in North Center and the other one of 18.000 sqm between IBM and Forte Partners for The Bridge.

Considering an average rental price of 12 euro/sqm, Amazon will pay almost EUR 2 M annual rent to Globalworth.

The US online retailer has already kicked off recruitment in Bucharest, with part of the already selected employees being part of the software development center owned by Intel in Bucharest.

In January this year it was revealed that Amazon was looking to lease 10,000 sq m of offices in Bucharest, an area needed to recruit at least 1,000 employees,

The need for expansion came less than a year since the US company signed a lease for an area of 13,500 sq m in Iasi in the United Business Center (UBC) 5 building of the Palas office project.
