AmCham Romania has new board of Directors, run by Jaak Mikkel

The AmCham Annual General Meeting (AGM) on March 22 concluded the elections for the Board of Directors and Auditing Committee, new President, Vice-Presidents and Treasurers being appointed.Coca-Cola HBC Jaak Mikkel

According to a press release, Jaak Mikkel, General Manager of Coca-Cola HBC Romania is the new President of the organization. Mikkel  is in the second year of his mandate, serving as AmCham Vice-President for the past year. He will lead AmCham Romania for one year.

Radu Florescu, CEO of Centrade Cheil continues as Vice-President and is joined by Anda Todor, Managing Partner of Dentons. Madeline Alexander, Audit Partner & EU Account Leader, Deloitte is AmCham’s Treasurer for the second year of her mandate. Bogdan Ion, Country Managing Partner with EY Romania and Catalin Velescu, Business Services Operations Leader CEE – MEA 3M,  continue as Board Members for the second year of their two year mandate.

The five Board Members elected in 2017 for a two year mandate include: Elisabeta Moraru – Country Business Development Manager, Google; Gabriela Matei  – General Manager, Microsoft Romania; Daniela Nemoianu – Senior Partner, Nemoianu Consulting, Tax&Law; Ionuţ Sas – Tax Partner, PwC Romania; James Daniel Stewart – Vice President, Raiffeisen Bank.

“We will pursue with priority the five strategic directions for development that have been identified in the Priorities for Romania, namely: human capital, modern infrastructure, the attraction of capital flows, sustainable development and environment protection, and the rule of law and law enforcement,” Mikkel said.

I started my way in life with the intention to pursue a teaching career. But, after graduating from the Faculty of Letters – the University of Bucharest in 2004, my first job as a reporter at one of the leading newspapers in Romania changed my perspective. I have specialized in communication and communication campaigns, following the Master's courses at the Faculty of Journalism and Communication Studies (FJSC), attending a BBC Communications scholarship.
I’ve represented several important publications in Romania as business journalist, being accredited in the finance and banking field. In 2015, I had the opportunity to interview the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Mission Chief for Romania, Andrea Schaechter. As business journalist, I also had the opportunity to interview ministers for Economics and Commercial
Affairs offices within different embassies in Romania or officials of large companies investing on the domestic market.
After almost 15 years of journalism, I still want to explore new ways, to inform and stay updated. That’s why The Romania Journal project fits me so well.
Today I describe myself as a passionate about the history of world culture, having a PhD in Hebrew Culture and Civilization, after a scholarship at the University of Haifa International School, as a language addict, an environmental activist, pet lover and traveler.
