Local American Working Group (LAWG), the Romanian affiliate of Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) appoints Radu R??inar, General Manager South Eastern Europe at AstraZeneca, as President, as of June, during a meeting held at the U.S. Embassy in Bucharest.
He is replacing Gabor Sztaniszlav, Country Manager Amgen, after concluding his 1 year mandate, but who stays member of LAWG leadership as Vice President, along with Fabrizio Giombini, Country Manager Merck Sharp & Dohme in General Secretary position, a press release informs.
Doctor by profession, Radu R??inar has a wide experience in the pharmaceutical industry, both in Romania and internationally, in countries of Europe and Asia. In Romania, he worked as manager of marketing department within Eli Lilly and subsequently he held the Country Manager position of the same company for two years. Since 2009 he is at the head of AstraZeneca Romania.
LAWG was founded in 2010 by the leading American pharmaceutical research and biotechnology companies existing in Romania, dedicated to promoting public access to innovative medicines which allow patients to live longer, healthier and more productive lives. The association joins 10 multinational pharmaceutical companies present on the Romanian market: Abbvie, Amgen, AstraZeneca, Bristol Myers Squibb, Eli Lilly, GlaxoSmithKline, Johnson & Johnson, Merck Sharp & Dohme, Novartis and Pfizer.
PhRMA members invested an estimated USD 49.4 billion in 2010 in discovering and developing new medicines. The amount invested in Romania by PhRMA member companies reaches an estimated EUR 100 million, used to power research and biopharmaceutical activities.
