Auchan’s acquisition of hypermarkets and shopping centres received Competition Council green light
The Competition Council approved French group Auchan’s takeover of hypermarkets and 12 shopping malls operated by the retailer, which was previously renting for its outlets, a press release informs on Thursday.
The transaction, estimated at over EUR 260 million, is one of the largest on retail market in Central Europe and the largest in Romania in 2014, Mediafax notes. The 12 hypermarkets and shopping galleries are located in Bucharest, Ploiesti, Cluj-Napoca, Baia Mare, Timisoara, Oradea, Satu Mare, Galati.
The operation will be done through the acquisition of sole control by Auchan on Tim Property Development, Ideal Casa Design, BR Real Friends, Compact Motor, Art Bau International, Metro Imobiliare Investment and on asset and lease contracts carried out by Rolast in Pitesti Shopping Centre.
