Romanian low-cost carrier Blue Air plans an increase in turnover and passenger number by 10 percent next year, from EUR 400 million and 5 million passengers this year, capital.ro informs, quoting news.ro.

”By passengers number, we exceed 5 million this year, 2 million more than last year. In 2017, we continued to improve our services, and in September we launched a new online booking platform, we brought Boeing airplanes of large capacity in our fleet, we have increased the frequencies on certain routes. All this development has helped to increase the number of passengers, ” Blue Air officials stated.

Currently, Blue Air has a fleet of 28 Boeing 737 aircraft, compared to six aircraft in 2013.

According to Gheorghe Racaru, GM Blue Air, the company will purchase two more Boeing planes next year, so it will operate with 30 aircraft. 2018 will be a consolidation year to increase efficiency, Blue Air official notes.

”So far we have focused on strong fleet investment. For 2018, we focus on strengthening Blue Air activity locally and in Europe. At the same time, we will keep our basic business, regular flights. We will also have charter flights in 2018 as much as in 2017 when we had about 700 such flights. We have signed already contracts with our traditional partners these days,” Racaru said.

In this context, the company is negotiating with Poland’s LOT for aircraft rental under wet-plan agreement (including crew). Moreover, the company will launch in 2018 a charter flight to Tbilisi (Georgia) and a regular one to Cairo (Egypt).
