German-based group Bosch has apparently given up plans to build a washing machine plant in Simeria, Hunedoara county, Transylvania, central Romania. The investment in Simeria should have mounted to EUR 110 million.
Irenne Wagner, head of marketing Bosch home appliances told ZF that BSH Hausgeräte GmbH will not go on with the initial plans to build a washing machine factory in Simeria until further notice. She explained the decision had come ‘due to the economic circumstances and the strategic planning of the sales.’
The Bosch official argued that BSH has a production line of 22 factories in Europe and they can be adjusted to the changing standards, so no new plant is needed for now.
The new investment would have provide 700 jobs in Simeria and the region and would have been the largest investment in Hunedoara county in the past 30 years.
