Government spokesperson Alina Petrescu announced on Friday that following a meeting held by Energy Minister Toma Petcu with the mayor of Bucharest, Gabriela Firea, it has been set that the shares of Electrocentrale Bucuresti (ELCEN), the largest producer of heat power in Romania, to be put on sale, digi24.ro informs.

The City Hall of Bucharest expressed its intention to buy these shares.

Alina Petrescu said that the point of view from the Competition Council has already been requested, and until it was received, there was no discussion about the value of the shares that would be put up for sale.

She added that it was also discussed about signing a convention between RADET, ELCEN and Romgaz to ensure the supply of thermal agent this winter as well.

RADET and ELCEN could merge until the beginning of next winter, being managed by the City Hall.
