In just one year of operation in Romania, Trendyol, one of the international e-commerce marketplaces, has attracted over 1.3 million active buyers locally, with Romanian customers purchasing over 13 million products on the platform.

Romania has thus become Trendyol’s most important market in Central and Eastern Europe, representing 70% of the company’s customer base in the region.

Moreover, in the last quarter of last year, Bucharest ranked in the top 3 international cities by the number of orders in Trendyol’s multi-regional network, which includes 15 countries.

“We are delighted with the results obtained in our first year of operation in Romania, which have confirmed once again that we have chosen to expand into a market with a fantastic appetite for our offer. As such, our main objective here is to continue to provide extraordinary services to our customers. After the inauguration of the warehouse in Ștefănești, our next steps include expanding the team, opening a local Trendyol office and investing in state-of-the-art technology,” says Irem Yılandil, Head of International Expansion, Trendyol Group.

Top cities in Romania with the most orders in 2024 According to Trendyol data, most of the orders registered by the marketplace in Romania last year came from large urban centers, with Bucharest in the lead, followed by Cluj-Napoca and Constanța.

In addition, in the last quarter of 2024, the Romanian capital was among the top 3 international cities in terms of number of orders (outside Turkey), after Baku and Riyadh.

Last year, the majority of Romanian customers were women, and fashion items, such as dresses, sweaters and blouses, were among the best-selling products.

November was also the best-performing month for Trendyol. During the two Black Friday campaigns held in Central and Eastern Europe, Romania was the regional sales leader, with approximately 3 million products sold in just two weeks.

The company started its first initiatives to integrate local sellers on the platform at the end of 2024, managing to attract over 20 brands in a short time.

For 2025, Trendyol plans to integrate over 200 new local merchants on the platform and expand its range of products and categories.

In terms of the total number of merchants, in 2024, 6,600 sellers were active on the Trendyol platform in Romania, offering over 4 million products.

“Going forward, Trendyol aims to consolidate the solid foundation built in the first year on the Romanian market. We want to offer even more diversity, integrating over 200 local merchants in 2025, to become the main choice of online shoppers in Romania”, concluded Irem Yılandil.
