CEO IPEC Cristian Covaciu is the ‘EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2016’ in Romania

Cristian Covaciu, CEO of glassware manufacturer of porcelain IPEC Alba Iulia, is EY Entrepreneur of the Year – Romania 2016, a press release informs.

The entrepreneur competed for the grand title alongside 49 other business leaders and will represent Romania this June at EY World Entrepreneur Of The Year Gala Ceremony held every year in Monte Carlo.

Family-controlled IPEC is one of the leading local suppliers of Swedish concern IKEA, with annual revenue of over EUR 22 million, 800 employees and 250 industrial robots. With almost 40 million pieces produced annually, IPEC is a company that delivers globally, from Japan to USA.

At the ceremony attended by over 250 representatives of the business community, Daniel Dines, CEO UiPath, was named Emerging Entrepreneur Of The Year, and Angela Achitei, president of the ‘Alaturi de voi’ Foundation Romania, got the Social Entrepreneur Of The Year title.

For the first time in Romania, it was awarded an Excellence Award which recognizes the family business. Family Business Excellence Award has come to Buluc family, running Farmexim group, made up of three companies: Farmexim S.A., Help Net Farma S.A., Green Net S.A.

“The 50 participants at EY Entrepreneur Of The Year Romania are entrepreneurs for whom the innovation is not a distant reality, but a strategic focus. (…) Today, when volatility is higher than ever, the entrepreneurs are those who continue to create value and remain equally confident in the team, business and future,” Bogdan Ion, Country Managing Partner, EY Romania, stated.

The EY Entrepreneur Of The Year award program celebrates their achievements and is held in 145 cities of 60 countries for 30 years.

Starting with 2014, EY provides the opportunity for entrepreneurs in Romania to participate in the largest and most renowned global business project dedicated to entrepreneurs, developed by the company since 1992.
