Changes within the Brewers of Romania Association

Brewers of Romania Association has appointed new management last January. According to a press release, Shachar Shaine, CEO of United Romanian Breweries Bereprod (URBB), was elected Association‘s president, replacing Igor Tikhonov, President of Ursus Breweries, who represented the Association in this position during the previous year.

“Developing beer culture in Romania is one of the objectives of the Brewers of Romania Association, the projects carried out in time speaking to Romanians about this extraordinary drink made from natural ingredients, about the many ways in which it can be enjoyed, as well as about the positive economic impact that each glass of beer has in Romania. I’m glad that together with the partners within the Association I have the opportunity to build further in this regard, so that beer produced in Romania to occupy the same place of honor on Romanians’ tables and hearts,” Shachar Shaine, the new president of Brewers of Romania Association stated.

At the same time, Julia Leferman was appointed Association’s general manager, the release reads.

Shachar Shaine has over 17 years experience in sales and marketing in FMCG sector and industrial project planning.

In her turn, Julia Leferman has over 15 years experience in Public Affairs, acquired in important public institutions and private consulting. Before joining Brewers of Romania Association, Leferman was part of Grayling team, coordinating complex projects of PA from various fields such as financial services, IT, health and energy.

According to Brewers of Romania Association, over 97 percent of the beer consumed in Romania is produced locally, and over 70 percent of the agricultural raw materials used to produce beer are coming just from Romania. Consequently, at the whole country level, the beer sector generates directly and indirectly more than 84,900 jobs.
