CINEMAX, the largest multiplex cinema network in Slovakia has announced its entrance on the Romanian market. The first two cinemas will be opened in Bucharest and Brasov.

CINEMAX runs a network of 13 multiplex cinemas in 12 cities in Slovakia, totaling 65 screens and over 11,000 seats.

The first cinema halls in Romania will be hosted at Veranda Mall Bucharest and AFI Brasov.

We are delighted to announced the entrance on the Romanian market. The new multiplex cinemas will open in early 2019 providing cutting edge technology and offering customers a new experience and additional space between chairs, as well as VIP halls. As for investments, we plan around EUR 4 million in both locations. These locations represent a first step in developing our brand in Romania, where we’ll expand out network, and we intend to increase our market share as much as possible,” said Michal Drobny,  General Manager.

The manager revealed the company aims to reach 30 screens in the upcoming years, and already has contracts signed with some local shopping malls.

Both cinemas in Romania will have a combined area of 5,300 sqm, a capacity of 2,000 sears and 24 screens. The Cinemax movie theaters will be equipped with DOLBY Atmos sound systems and 4k laser projector

Cinemax is owned by Continental Film, a private equity family business established in 1997.
