Coca-Cola HBC Romania has obtained recently the European Water Stewardship (EWS) Standard Certification for its Dorna and Poiana Negri natural mineral water bottling factory, according to a press release.
Coca-Cola HBC factory in Poiana Negri is the first natural mineral water bottling factory in the world to receive the gold medal and the European Water Stewardship certification.
Some of the most recent related initiatives are the use of “ionized air technology” in the plastic bottles cleansing process, or the construction of the co-generating power plant at the Ploiesti bottling factory, that reduces CO2 emissions by 50 percent.
Poiana Negri plant has been part of an extensive investment programme, since 2002, when the Coca-Cola System in Romania acquired the production capacities and the springs in Dorna. The natural mineral water sources are situated in a ecosystem well protected from industrial pollution or agricultural chemical run off. The sources are located in the heart of the Oriental Carpathians, in the middle of the Dorna plateau, about 10 kilometres from Vatra Dornei.
The European Water Stewardship (EWS) Standard is a recognition tool developed by the European Water Partnership, an independent non-profit organization, which allows users to not only mitigate their physical, regulatory and reputational risks but also to share their journey on the way to stewardship with investors, consumers and their communities. EWS encourages industry and agriculture to become water stewards, by assessing, acting and improving the way they use and manage water in a holistic way.
