African swine fever confirmed in 10 counties, more than 117,000 pigs slaughtered

The number of African swine fever outbreaks confirmed in Romania has reached 725, still active in 10 counties in north-western and south-eastern regions, in 156 localities, the National Sanitary-veterinary and Food Safety Authority (ANSVSA) has announced on Wednesday.
Eight breeding complexes have been affected by outbreaks in the counties of Tulcea and Braila. The overall number of pigs slaughtered has reached 117,704, from breeding complexes and households.
The most affected counties are Satu Mare, Bihor, Salaj, Tulcea, Braila, Constanta, Ialomita, Galati, Calarasi and Ilfov.
ANSVSA also informs that 18 wild boars have been affected.
Until August 14, the pig breeders affected by the African swine fever received compensations amounting to RON 218,000, but the level of requested compensations exceed RON 3.5 million.
Out of the 1,004 files submitted for compensations amounting to RON 3.559 million, 83 files have been completed and compensations amounting to RON 218,000 were paid.
