The Competition Council (CC) has initiated an investigation to check the conditions for gas delivery by Romgaz and OMV Petrom to their own energy producing plants, the institution informs on its website.

“Within the investigation started in February, the Competition Council will collaborate with the National Authority for Energy Regulation (ANRE) in order to analyze if the electricity producing plants within the structure of the two natural gas producers have benefited from different conditions against the other consumers in Romania, which are supplied with natural gas by SNGN Romgaz and OMV Petrom SA,” the release reads.

The Romgaz and OMV Petrom output represents 94% of the domestic natural gas.

The two producers have integrated structures, including energy producing plants which use as fuel the natural gas produced.
