High-school students invent anti-depression application
A team of high school students from “Tudor Vianu” National Informatics College won the first place in Bucharest at the Social Innovation Relay (SIR) competition, with a smartphone application that supports people suffering from depression or anxiety.
The team, consisting of students Alexandru Amarandei-Stanescu, Valentin Bucur, Alexandru Sasu and Matei Demetrius Tita, under the coordination of Professor Cristiana Popescu, aimed to determine users to change their perceptions and behavior using quotes, challenges and motivational images provided by “BestBuddy” and tailored to each user’s profile. The application will be built with the help of various psychologists and can be installed freely by any smartphone owner.
The high-school students will be awarded on the Romanian Athenaeum’s stage, at the Invest in Education Gala – Business Hall of Fame, which will take place on May 27.
