Profi has reduced the VAT for some foodstuffs
The network Profi has reduced the VAT for a number of foodstuffs, being the first retailer to apply the mandatory decision as of June 1, the company announced on Tuesday.
“We’ve taken this exceptional measure since the last day of April, as we believe that lowering the prices resulting from the cut in VAT is a very good decision for commerce, a decision that will not only allow people to buy better qualitative products, but will generally increase sales,” said Daniel Cîrstea, general manager of Profi stores.
Products with lower VAT are marked with special yellow tags in stores.
VAT on food will decrease from June 1 to 9% from 24% today.
Profi is owned by the investment fund Enterprise Investors.
