U.S. Wiper Manufacturer Lays Off Hundreds of Workers in Romania

The American company Trico Wipers, a manufacturer of car wipers, will start layoffs at the factory in Ariceștii Rahtivani, an area where another large company recently decided to lay off workers with the closure of the factory, Profit.ro reports.

The County Employment Agency (AJOF) announces that it has received a notification in which the company presents its intention to collectively lay off approximately 400 employees.

“We received a notification today regarding the intention of collective dismissal from the company Trico Wipers Ploiești SRL, from the Ariceștii Rahtivani Industrial Park. This concerns approximately 400 employees. The layoffs will take place in installments, until the third quarter of this year, with the application of priority criteria in the collective dismissal process.

The layoffs will begin at the end of March and will continue until the third quarter of 2025”, Cristina Stoichici, the executive director of AJOFM, told Observatorulph.ro.

Trico Wipers Ploiești had a turnover of 192 million lei and a net profit of 1.4 million lei in 2023, with 403 employees. The American windshield wiper manufacturer Trico, which also has a branch in Bucharest, has expanded its logistics facilities in the Ariceștii Rahtivani Industrial Park in 2023.
