Competition Council Fines OKI Europe Limited 3.35 Million Lei

The Competition Council fined the peripheral equipment manufacturer OKI Europe Limited with a fine of 3.35 million lei, for limiting exports and fixing resale prices, as well as their monitoring, between October 2015 and March 2020.

The competition authority found, following an investigation, that OKI Europe Limited adopted a strategy of imposing differentiated resale prices according to the countries in which it operated, and to achieve this objective it limited exports and, together with the distributor General Systems S.R.L. , established the resale prices for products sold on the national territory (printers and multifunction devices).

“The purpose of this strategy was to maximize profits by securing a certain price level. General Systems S.R.L. benefited from immunity from the fine, after applying the leniency policy and denouncing anti-competitive practices. We remind you that the Competition Law prohibits any agreements between companies and concerted practices that prevent, restrict or distort competition on the Romanian market. The Competition Council encourages companies involved in anti-competitive acts to contact the competition authority, in this way, being able to benefit from immunity or substantial reductions of fines,” says a press release by the Competition Council.
