The Romanian Competition Council is reviewing the transaction by which voestalpine Railway Systems S.A. (VRS) intends to acquire the shareholding package held by PCM RailOne AG in Travertec S.R.L.

Prior to this transaction, Travertec S.R.L. was owned by voestalpine Railway Systems S.A. (75%) and PCM RailOne AG (25%).

VRS’s main activity is the production of railway turnouts, railway crossings, fastening systems, and locking devices; additionally, VRS also manufactures screws for railway sleepers.

Travertec S.R.L. manufactures pre-stressed reinforced concrete railway sleepers, which fall under the category of precast concrete elements for transport infrastructure (both road and rail).

According to the provisions of the Competition Law (no. 21/1996), this transaction must be authorized by the Romanian Competition Council, which will assess it to determine its compatibility with a normal competitive environment and will issue a decision within the deadlines provided by law.
