According to the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA), in the first month of 2024 no less than 51,673 Europeans registered a new Dacia car. The figure corresponds to a 7.7% increase in the brand to a market share of 5.1%.
Although seen as the second brand of the Renault group after the French one, Dacia managed to sell more cars than its big sister. Thus, while Dacia sold 51,673 cars in January, the Renault brand was chosen by only 41,050 Europeans. The situation is similar to the one at the beginning of last year when, also in January, Dacia sold 47,962 in Europe, while Renault was satisfied with 46,760.
Incidentally, in addition to being overtaken by Dacia, the French brand Renault also recorded a 12.2% decrease in sales in January, remaining with a market share of only 4%.
According to LifeNews.ro, the ranking of brands on the European market has, as usual, Volkswagen at its head, with 95,498 cars registered in January. The German brand is down 5.2% from January 2023.
Toyota ranks second in the ranking of the best-selling brands on the European market (EU + EFTA + MB), with 78,314 units and an increase of 8%, and in the third position at the beginning of 2024 is the German premium brand BMW with 60,781 of units and an impressive growth of 33.9%.
In the Top 10 brands on the European market, Skoda (59,000 units), Peugeot (57,447 units), Audi (53,065 units), Kia (44,737 units), Hyundai (41,788 units), Renault (41,050 units) and Mercedes-Benz (40,869 units).
