Dacia sales in Europe up by 20pc in October. New car registrations in Romania reach 88,800 in ten months

The sales of Dacia car sales in Europe (EU plus EFTA countries) have increased by 20.3% in October, and the market share increased from 2.6% to 2.9%, European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) statistics have revealed on Thursday.

The Dacia car registrations in Europe last month reached 35,209 units, up against October 2016 (29,267 units).

Renault and PSA Peugeot Citroen reported sales increased of 17.6% and 74% respectively. Volkswagen and Daimler registered an advance of 4.7% and 6.3% respectively, whereas Ford sales increased by 5.8%.

In March 2017, PSA Peugeot Citroen acquired the Opel and Vauxhall brands and, since August 1, 2017, the Opel and Vauxhall car registrations are included in the PSA Group.

In the first ten months this year, the Dacia car deliveries increased by 11.3% in Europe to a market share of 3%. Dacia car registrations in Europe were of 391,896 units, up against the similar period in 2016 (352,204 units).

More than 88,000 new cars registered in Romania. Second hand cars exceed 426,000 registrations

The number of car registrations in Romania reached in October 88,805 units for the first ten months of the year, up by almost 17% against the similar period last year, the Directorate for Driving Licenses and Vehicle Registration (DRPCIV) statistics reveal.

On the other hand, the registrations of second hand cars have reached high levels, up to 426,029 units during January-October, up by almost 70% against the similar period last year.

In October, some 10,036 new cars were registered, up by 26.22% against the similar period last year.

Dacia – 2,868 units (up by 12.56% against October 2016), Skoda (958 units, +13.24%), Volkswagen (890 units, +32.64%), Renault (764 units, +34.98%) and Ford (701 units, +83.81%).

In October, 47,605 second hand cars were registered, up by 70.3% against October 2016.
