Dacia sales in EU, up by 19 pc in the first four months

Dacia car sales in Europe registered an increase of 23.9 percent in Europe in April, the carmaker’s market share rising to 3.5 percent, from 3.1 percent in the same period in 2017, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) statistics published on Thursday.

Moroever, Dacia reached 172,787 cars registered in the European Union in the January – April 2018, an increase of 18.5 percent compared to the first four months of 2017. Thus, Dacia managed to overcome large carmakers such as Kia (171,224), Seat (157,419) or Volvo (100,138).

46,623 units of Dacia cars were registered in Europe last month, up from 37,615 vehicles in April 2017.

According to the same ACEA data, Europe’s passenger car registrations recovered in April.

Car registrations grew 9.6 percent year-on-year in April, reversing a 5.3 percent fall in March. Car sales totaled 1.3 million units.

All five major EU markets reported increases in April. Registrations in Spain grew 12.3 percent and by 10.4 percent in the UK.

France registered an increase of 9 percent and Germany’s sales advanced 8 percent. In Italy, sales grew 6.5 percent.

During January to April, demand for new cars in the EU increased 2.7 percent from the previous year.
