Dacia sales rose by 7.7 pc in 2015 worldwide, setting new records

French carmaker Renault on Monday reported a 7.7 percent rise in global sales in 2015 for Dacia, setting new sales record, to 550,920 cars and light commercial vehicles (LCV).

Ten years after its debut in Europe, the Romanian brand recorded further growth in its registrations in 2015 (+3.6 percent), and marked record sales of 374, 458.

At the same time, French carmaker’s worldwide registrations saw a further rise of 3.3 percent for a total of 2.8 million vehicles, in a market that grew by 1.6 percent.

“This third consecutive year of growth in registrations allowed the Group to set a new sales record. The Group’s worldwide market share now stands at 3.2 percent,” the release shows.

Dacia grew by 7.8 percent in sales of cars, from 474,623 units in 2014 to 511,510 units.

For LCV, Dacia sales increased by 7.2 percent from 36,756 units to 39.4010 units.

In Europe, Groupe Renault’s share of the PC+LCV market rose to 10.1 percent, with an increase in registrations of 10.2 percent for 1,613,499 vehicles. The Group increased sales in all countries in the region, with particularly strong performances in Spain (+22.3 percent), the United Kingdom (+17.7 percent) and Italy (+18 percent), with a record market share of 9.1 percent.

Renault retained its leadership position in the urban vehicle market thanks to the continuing success of the Clio and of the Captur.

I started my way in life with the intention to pursue a teaching career. But, after graduating from the Faculty of Letters – the University of Bucharest in 2004, my first job as a reporter at one of the leading newspapers in Romania changed my perspective. Affairs offices within different embassies in Romania or officials of large companies investing on the domestic market.
