The Competition Council sanctioned with fines of RON 28.12 million (EUR 6.32 million) 41 companies active on the distribution market of doors, thermal plants and boilers for concluding anticompetitive agreements, a press release informs.
The penalties were imposed within cartel investigations on fixed prices for Porta KMI Romania (doors) and Ariston Thermo Romania (thermal plants).
The Competition Council found that between each of the two companies and its distributors, there have been signed contracts by which they set the resale prices or trade allowance quotas.
Thus, the distributors’ capacity to set their own resale price was limited. The price competition between them was eliminated.
Porta KMI Romania SRL and 24 of its distributors were fined with RON 15.06 million. 11 companies have admitted the participation in the anticompetitive agreement and benefited from a fine reduction of 20 percent.
The highest fines were imposed to Dedeman – RON 9.15 million and Arabesque – RON 3.55 million, followed by Porta KMI Romania – RON 481,004, Casa Noastra – RON 444,751 and Proges SRL – RON 471,593.
As regards the second investigation, Ariston Thermo Romania and 15 of its distributors operating on the thermal power plants and boilers distribution market were penalized with RON 13.06 million (about EUR 2.9 million) for fixing resale prices.
Of the 16 companies penalized, 15 admitted their participation in the anticompetitive agreement and benefited from a fine reduction of 20 percent.
The highest fines were imposed to Dedeman – RON 9.51 million, Ariston Thermo Romania – RON 1.79 million and Marelvi Impex SRL – RON 518,913.
