The telecommunications operator Digi has signed a 150 million euro purchase agreement with the British Lorca JVCO for Nowo Communications, the fourth largest mobile and fixed telecommunications operator in Portugal, according to an announcement at the Bucharest Stock Exchange.

Nowo Communications has 270,000 mobile and 130,000 fixed-line customers. Nowo also holds spectrum licenses in the 1800 Mhz, 2600 MHz and 3600 MHz frequency bands.

Completion of the transaction is subject to obtaining competition approval. Digi announced earlier this year that it would launch operations in Portugal later this year. The operator is present on three more markets besides the one in Romania, namely in Spain, Belgium and Italy.
