The Competition Council (CC) has carried out unannounced inspections at Distrigaz Sud Retele SRL (subsidiary of Engie Romania) headquarters and its working points in Sfantu Gheorghe, Brasov, Targoviste, Blejoi (Prahova), Galati, Pitesti, Craiova, a press release informs.
CC analyzes a possible imposition of higher tariffs, unfair to consumers, who have connected to the gas supply system. It was also opened an investigation on a possible abuse of dominant position on the services market of technical project approval, reception and commissioning of the facilities using natural gas. CC inspections are authorized by Bucharest Court of Appeal.
“Unannounced inspections are a preliminary stage of the investigation, and they do not represent Competition Council’s ante pronouncement regarding the infringement of the competition law,” the release reads.
Distrigaz Sud is one the largest distributors of natural gas and serves 19 counties in southern Romania and Bucharest, having a distribution network of 19,000 kilometers.
