DP World has announced the launch of a pan-European logistics service and the opening of its operational center, the European Control Tower, in Bucharest. The groupage transport service is a top-tier solution designed to integrate all supply chain stages by combining road, sea, air, rail, and multimodal transport services, creating a complete end-to-end solution.
By efficiently managing the supply chain and enhancing operational performance, DP World focuses on meeting customers’ needs to reduce costs and accelerate delivery times while ensuring transparency at every stage.
Additionally, DP World’s groupage service is designed to support the sustainability of supply chains. Goods from different companies are shipped on the same routes, minimizing empty space in trucks, ships, trains, and planes, thereby reducing the environmental footprint of each shipment.
The Operational Control Tower for DP World’s European network will be located in Bucharest. Its role will be to coordinate all elements of this end-to-end service, including groupage services, first/last-mile delivery, warehousing, customs brokerage, and multimodal transport. It will also develop advanced digital platforms to enable real-time management, predictive analytics, and seamless communication. The choice of Bucharest reflects Romania’s strategic geographic position and DP World’s strong presence in the country. The company already operates in the Port of Constanța, a gateway for shipments from Asia that provides access to the Danube, as well as the multimodal terminal in Aiud, which facilitates the movement of goods across Europe via road and rail.
Kris Adams, Executive Vice President for Eastern Europe at DP World, stated:
“This service will bring significant changes for both DP World and our customers in this region. By leveraging our expertise and extensive capabilities in road, sea, air, rail, and multimodal transport, we can now move goods from producer to customer’s doorstep—faster, cheaper, and more sustainably. This makes DP World a true force in integrated European logistics.”
The service will strengthen Romania’s position as one of Europe’s key logistics hubs, contributing to economic growth and supporting Romanian businesses by providing easier access to international markets. In addition to Romania, DP World will initially focus on Moldova, Serbia, Turkey, and Bulgaria—where customer demand for integrated services has been particularly strong—before expanding the service to Central and Western Europe.
