E-commerce to Reach 3.32% of Romania’s GDP in 2024

E-commerce will reach 3.32% of Romania’s GDP in 2024, while Greece leads the Central and Eastern European region with 7.87%, according to data provided by the Bulgarian eCommerce Association. While the European average is around 4-5%, Bulgaria has more room to grow, with only 2.34% of its GDP in 2024 being derived from eCommerce.

“While the contribution of e-commerce to GDP across Europe is steady at around 5%, we see a lot of room for growth in Bulgaria, a faster catch-up in Romania, as well as an above-average performance in Greece. Traffic, sales, trends and many other relevant industry insights will be available at the largest regional eCommerce event, which we will host in Sofia in April – Balkan eCommerce Summit,” says Nikola Ilchev, founder of Balkan eCommerce Summit.
