ELCEN signs maintenance contract of EUR 5.6 M with GE Global Services

Electrocentrale Bucuresti (ELCEN), the largest producer of heat power in Romania, signed Monday a service and maintenance contract for a gas turbine from the combined cycle power station of CTE Bucuresti Vest with General Electric (GE) Global Services GmbH, service division of the US company, a press release informs.

The agreement enters into force on September 9 and is available for a period of six years.

“The gas turbine plays a key role in the functioning of combined cycle power plant in the West, in ELCEN activity, as a result of its high efficiency level. We are glad that we will work with experts in the field, original manufacturers of gas turbine, in maintenance services insurance, thus guaranteeing the certainty in supplying a quality service in heat energy supply to the Bucharest consumers,” Marcel-Octavian Nicolaescu, general director of ELCEN said during the signing of the contract.

In his turn, Adolf Roesch, General Manager of General Electric Power Services for Central Europe noted that the start of the activity between General Electric and ELCEN is an important step within the collaboration relations.

“On this occasion, ELCEN enters among the energy producing companies in Romania, benefiting from GE’s specialized technical services to ensure the maximum operating availability and quality parameters, contributing to ELCEN competitiveness in the energy sector,” Roesch said.

The gas turbine of CTE Bucuresti Vest operates since 2009 and is manufactured by General Electric, parent company of General Electric Global Services.

Combined cycle power station at CTE Bucuresti Vest, an investment of EUR 160 million, entered into commercial exploitation in 2009 and currently is the newest and efficient Elcen’s cogeneration unit and the only urban heating system in the country with modern technology.
