eMAG has appointed Daniel Spiridon to the position of CEO for the company’s branch in Hungary, effective September 1. Daniel Spiridon had a key role in closing the merger of eMAG with Extreme Digital, completed this spring, thanks to which customers in Hungary can access 4 million products from a single platform, eMAG.hu and the eMAG app.

eMAG has ongoing investments of 785 million lei in the next two years. This plan also includes a new warehouse in Dunaharaszti, near Budapest, a €100 million investment that will be completed early next year, with which it aims to offer customers expedited delivery services and access to a range and more products from all categories.

Currently, eMAG has more than 2 million customers in Hungary and benefits from the infrastructure of more than 600 easybox units. eMAG Hungary is the largest Romanian company in Hungary and ranks first in the top of online trade. The eMAG Marketplace platform from Hungary is part of this ecosystem, on which more than 2,000 Romanian entrepreneurs grow and develop businesses.

“We set out to create the strongest regional eCommerce ecosystem and we reached an important milestone in this process through the merger between eMAG and Extreme Digital. Together under one brand we are in a position to offer customers a greater range of products and improved services. Since December 2021, Daniel and his team have been working on closing this merger and strengthening the strategic direction. He has helped increase collaboration between the teams in Hungary, Bulgaria and Romania and has worked closely with the team in Hungary over the past year. I congratulate him on his new role, with the confidence that he will continue to imprint the same vision that brought us success at home, in Romania, building projects of value for our clients,” said Tudor Manea, CEO of eMAG.

“I’m delighted to have the opportunity to contribute to this build as we aim to continue to provide our customers across the region with good service and solutions to help them through this uncertain time. Thus, we can support other entrepreneurs to succeed in the new economic climate and grow with the help of eMAG Marketplace,” said Daniel Spiridon, CEO of eMAG Hungary.

Daniel Spiridon joined the eMAG team as VP Business Development & Strategy in 2021, after over 15 years of experience in the strategic management consulting firm McKinsey, where he led the branch in Romania, and contributed to the acceleration of the digital transformation of some companies of top from Central and Eastern Europe, from the position of regional coordinator of the Telecom, Media and Technology team.
