IMF delegation held talks with PM Ponta and Fin Min Teodorovici at Victoria Palace
The IMF, World Bank and European Commission delegations have held talks on Monday at Victoria Palace with Prime Minister Victor Ponta and Finance Minister Eugen Teodorovici.
The delegation arrived in Bucharest on May 19 for technical discussions related to the tax code and the status of implementation of the measures contained in the program with the international financial institutions.
The mission is scheduled to end on Tuesday, and the next visit is scheduled for the end of June.
“It is a technical mission and I hope it would be a successful mission in the end, so we can call into question the program with the IMF, the European Commission and the World Bank. I had in Brussels talks in the Council of Ministers of Finance, ECOFIN, where we reiterated that Romania is firmly committed to this program and close it in September,” said Finance Minister Eugen Teodorovici some days ago.
He said that the mission is to discuss each measure of the tax code based on arguments but stressed that Romania needs fiscal relaxation.
