Romania has the potential to become a leading European economy. According to Guillermo Tolosa, the International Monetary Fund’s resident representative, quoted by digi24.ro, “in three years, Romania can compete Czech Republic, Greece and Portugal if the economy continues to grow as in the past two years.”

IMF official admits that some of the obstacles the country is facing are related to concrete things missing in Romania, such as infrastructure, which is lacking now.

“This topic should be approached very seriously, including through an increase in spending,” Tolosa said.
