Inflation rate down to 5.4pc in June

The annual inflation rate was 5.4% in June 2018, slightly down by 0.02 percentage points against the previous month (5.41%), given the price increases for non-food goods by 3.86%, of foodstuff by 7.82% and of services by 2.58%, the National Statistics Institute (INS) informs on Wednesday.

A higher inflation rate was registered in February 2013 – 5.65%.

In June 2018 the consumer prices increased by 5.4% against June 2017. The annual inflation rate calculated on the basis of the Harmonized Consumer Price Index (HCPI) is 4.7%. The average inflation rate for the past 12 months (July 2017-June 2018) against the previous 12 months (July 2016-July 2017) calculated on the basis of Consumer Price Index (CPI) is 3.6%. Calculated as HCPI is 2.9%, the INS informs.

In June, as compared to May, the consumer prices grew by 0.02%, given that the foodstuff prices fell by 0.24%, the non-food goods prices increased by 0.14% and the fees for services increased by 0.20%.

The average monthly inflation rate in the first half 2018 was 0.2% against 0.1% in the similar period in 2017.
