Romania is paying in March EUR 3.2 million to the World Bank (WB) as part of the stand-by loan contracted in 2009. The amount represents interest and fees, according to the Ministry of Public Finance (MFP) data, Agerpres informs.
From the beginning of the year, Romania has repaid over EUR 1.729 billion to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) – European Union (EU) – World Bank (WB).
The highest amount of EUR 1.546 billion was paid to the EU on January 1, representing EUR 1.5 billion capital repayments and RON 46.2 million interest and fees.
On February 1, the Romanian state has paid RON 18.3 million to WB (interest and fees) and on February 5 – EUR 3 million to the IMF (interest and fees).
The total amount that Romania must repay to the three financial institutions amounts to approx. EUR 1,860 billion in 2015. Repayments are made on account of the financial package granted to Romania by the international lenders in 2009 of EUR 19.95 billion.
The reimbursements are for the financial package offered to Romania by international lenders in 2009, a package with a total value of EUR 19.95 billion. In 2009 Romania signed a 24-month stand-by agreement worth EUR 12.95 billion with the IMF, as part of a EUR 19.95 billion support package offered by the IMF, EU and World Bank. Through this arrangement with the IMF, Romania drew seven of the eight installments entailed, worth 10.57 billion SDRs (approximately EUR 11.9 billion).
