Romanian economy up by 4.1% last year, down from 7% in 2017

Romanian economy grew last year by 4.1%, down from an advance of 7% in 2017, the National Statistics Institute (INS) has announced on Thursday, with official figures slightly below the official forecast of 4.5%.

In the fourth quarter of 2018, Gross Domestic Product was, in real terms, by 0.7% higher as compared to Q3 2018.

Also, compared to the same quarter of 2017, the GDP grew in the last three months of 2018 by 4.1% as gross series and by 4.0% as seasonally adjusted series.

Finance Minister Eugen Teodorovici, recently estimated 4.4% GDP growth in 2018.

The Government has built the consolidated budget for 2019 on an economic growth of 5.5% and a budget deficit of 2.55% of GDP. The Gross Domestic Product is estimated at RON 1,022 billion.

The European Commission’s winter forecast for Romania’s growth in 2019 was of 3.8%.
